Power Supply Products National Jairam to write to Modi on setting up of spice zone in Gujarat Vadodara (PTI): Union Minister of State for Commerce and PowerJairam Ramesh on Sunday said he will write to Gujarat chiefminister Narendra Modi for setting up of spice zone and developmentof marine products hub in the state. The spice zone should be set up in 100 acre land in Mehsana todevelop value added products to meet the domestic and exportdemand, Ramesh here to attend a function told PTI. Ramesh said he would also request Modi to develop 1600 km longcoastal line of Gujarat as marine products hub which will createmore job opportunities. There is need for development of acquaculture products in the stateand centre will give assistance under MPDEA (Marine Products Exportdevelopment Agency), he said. On plans to formulate any policy for allocating gas to the gasbased Thermal power units, he said after meeting the demands of thefertiliser plants gas can be given for power generation. Admitting a huge gap between power demand and supply in thecountry, he said an ambitious plan is chalked out for generation of78,000 mw power during the 11th Five year plan. He denied Gujarat government's allegation that Centre waswithdrawing unallocated 200mw of power from the Gujarat's powersystem. He said Gujarat will get 4,000 mw power from Reliance power projectin Sasan, Madhya Pradesh. The Minister said Gujarat will be allocated coal from the coalmines in Orissa whcih can reduce its transportation cost formeeting requirements of coal based thermal power station in thestate.
